Respecting Our Neighbours
Tingalpa State School has good relationships with our surrounding neighbours and it is important that we continue to show respect for our neighbours. Please ensure you only park in designated spaces, without blocking driveways or hinder access to properties. Parking is limited in the school carparks but there are many streets close to the school and Kianawah Park as parking options. Please do not park in the Twin Parks Shopping Complex, as cars may be towed. Thank you for thinking of our neighbours around the school area.
A big thank you
We would like to extend our thanks to those families who have made voluntary contributions to the school this year. We are excited to share that thanks to your support, we have been able to purchase a classroom set of Ozobots. These innovative coding robots will allow our students to dive deeper into hands-on learning and creativity, enhancing their STEM skills in fun and interactive ways.
School Assembly – Student Awards
Our school assemblies give an opportunity to celebrate learning and share school community messages.
Our Student Awards are given to students who have demonstrated one of our Tingalpa State School Values and is shared each fortnight at the school assembly – 2:30pm in the hall.
Our CARE values are:
Cooperation – Work together and encourage others
Attitude - Be honest and act positively
Respect – Respect people, property and the environment
Effort – Do your best and be responsible for your actions
This fortnight the focus value focuses on - Effort
Kind regards,
Donna
Student Support Team
At Tingalpa State School we have a student support team that meets each week to discuss students who would benefit from extra support. This meeting discusses students in terms of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
Tier 1 supports are those put in place in classrooms for everyone and are catered to via classroom differentiation. This is classified as a universal support model and case managed by classroom teachers.
Tier 2 supports are for some students who benefit from further scaffolding by a number of support staff, such as but not limited to guidance officers, social worker, school chaplain, OT, Speech Pathologists. These students can be case managed by the class teacher or our SWAN team.
Tier 3 supports are for a few students who require individualised supports that are managed by our SWAN and leadership team.
NAPLAN 2025

Playgrounds
Playgrounds are out of bounds before and after school unless with Outside School Hours Care.
During lunch times, students have access to a range of activities across our school– lower oval, upper oval, library, lunchtime clubs just to name a few. To help manage these areas we have timetables assigned for various year levels across the week. On our lower oval, students have stick play, soccer and space to run and play. To assist with the management of these areas we have timetabled year levels for certain days. This is shared with the students at the commencement of each term and is on the gate for students to check before moving to the lower oval. We are also excited that Mrs Ittensohn is offering cross country training on Tuesday in the lead up to the school's cross country events this term.
Stick Play Expectations:
Students not following these expectations are asked to leave the oval.
- Stick play is available only on your set day.
- Scan area for safety/snake stomp.
- You can only build on a base until end of 2nd break then it is no longer anyone's.
- There are no saving areas throughout the week.
- Don’t take sticks from other groups during play.
- Sticks can be no longer than your height and no wider than 2cm.
- Safe Play - no using or throwing sticks as weapons (even pretend).
Soccer Expectations:
Students not following these expectations will be asked to leave the oval.
- Playing fields are split into year levels to help with creating fair games.
- Soccer play on your set field.
- Create even teams. One person is not to be in charge of picking teams.
- Safe Play – no tackles or slide tackles.
- Respectful conversations – consider the size of the problem.
- Sportsmanship is expected that aligns with the school values.
- If disagreements can’t be resolved seek help from the duty teacher.
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT - CURRICULUM - Elise Debenham

Author Talk
On Wednesday 26 February, our Year 3, 4 and 5 students were involved in an author talk with Deborah Abela. Deb spoke to the students about how she became an author, the ins and outs of writing and also showed students some of her books and spoke about the inspiration behind each of the books. All of the students were engaged and many questions were thrown at Deb after and throughout the talk.
One of the key things that she repeated to students was “I wonder what would happen if…” This allowed our students to continue their thoughts on stories and to develop characters and problems throughout the story.

Think U Know QLD Police Talk
On Thursday 6 March, students in Year 5 and 6 will participate in the Think U Know program run by QLD Police. This talk is an evidence-based education program incorporating up-to-date research and is linked to the Australian Curriculum. Presentations help students make informed decisions to keep themselves safe online and how they can overcome challenges through help seeking behaviour. Think U Know ensure they are age-appropriate and relevant to students’ learning.
The session covers the following learning outcomes:
- Students will analyse how behaviours online can influence both their online and offline personal safety and recognise their role in maintaining their safety.
- Students will consider their ethical and legal obligations when sharing or receiving content from others.
- Students will develop strategies to make informed decisions around what they do and don’t share online.
- Students will recognise the difference between people they know in person and those they know online only, and common indicators of potential unsafe online interactions.
Students will identify trusted adults and when to seek help.
Year Level News - 3/4B
Students in 3/4B have been very busy with their learning this term across all learning areas. They have been working on some amazing art activities as well as some reflective art pieces that focus on growth mindset. The students created a piece of work on “My Magical Yet Reminds Me…” Below are some images of the heart inspired craft as well as the Magical Yet activity.

Bayside District Swimming Carnival
Amazing work by our Tingalpa State School swimmers Tia S, Bethany Mc and Alexander M who represented our school at the Bayside District Swimming Carnival last week. Some personal bests were achieved and all three students had a fantastic day, swam confidently and represented our school in a positive way. Congratulations and well done!

Best of luck to all students from Tingalpa State School that are competing at Bayside District 10-12 Years Basketball and Netball Trials this week.
Upcoming District trials this term are; Rugby League and Hockey. Forms and information about these trials will be sent out when all details have been finalised by the Bayside District.
