Welcome back to school for what will be an amazing Term 4. I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather over the school holidays.

As the weather is warming up, we will be encouraging students to ensure they have their water bottles handy, to stay hydrated. We will also remind students of the importance of wearing their hats outside, no hat, no play. Students are required to wear school hats at school. These can be purchased through Munch Monitor.

Classes for 2026

We are beginning to make plans for 2026 classes. If you are not intending on returning to Tingalpa State School next year can you please advise Admin via email on admin@tingalpass.eq.edu.au.

School resumes on Tuesday 27 January 2026 for all children from Prep to Year 6.

All state schools are staffed on the Day 8 Enrolment Data Collection at the start of the school year. Whether we form straight classes or multi-age classes is dependent on enrolment numbers on Day 8 – 5 February 2026. Parents are reminded that class composition, teacher year level allocations and class placements are all subject to adjustment post Day 8.

For audit purposes, it is vital we have correct enrolment numbers at the commencement of the 2026 school year. If you will be returning later than the school start date, please also indicate your intended date of return and reason such as visiting family overseas. You will be requested to complete an acceptable evidence form, please email Admin on the email address above for a copy of this form.

Please note that classes and teachers can change depending on enrolment numbers.

The leadership team, class teachers and support staff work together to place students in classes for the following year. Staff have deep knowledge of students, their needs and which students they should or should not be placed with. The aim is to construct well-balanced classes in which students can work and perform to their full potential. Due consideration is given to the student’s academic needs and their social/emotional needs when placement is decided. Your trust in our decision-making, your acknowledgement of the time and care that goes into this process and your respect for the competence and dedication of every member of our staff team are greatly appreciated.

Should parents wish to share additional details about their child, in regards to class placement, they are asked to email their ‘request for consideration’ to Mel Loban, Deputy Principal at mpeac9@eq.edu.au.

Requests are always considered but not guaranteed. Please note we will not take requests for particular teachers.  A new class and a new teacher are an opportunities for children to make new friends and to have new learning experiences.

Requests should outline your child’s learning needs and the considerations that you believe would assist your child to be successful at school in 2026. Requests will not be considered after 20 October 2025.

‘Meet the Teacher Afternoon’ will be held on Monday 8 December 2025, students are placed into their new class group and meet their 2026 teacher, if they are currently working at Tingalpa State School.
