Luella Shines at State Basketball Championships
A huge congratulations to Luella C, who recently represented the Met East region at the State Basketball Championships from 12 – 15 June. Over four days of tough competition, Luella and her team played six games and won every one, securing the gold medal, the championship shield, and an impressive 1st place finish.
This outstanding result is a reflection of Luella’s dedication and hard work. For the past six weeks, she has been attending 5:00am Saturday training sessions while also managing her regular club and representative basketball commitments. Coached by Char Mellars, a former New Zealand Women’s Olympic Basketball player, Luella showed true determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship—qualities that make her an inspiration to our school community!

State Hockey Success for Troy
We’re thrilled to share that Troy K proudly represented Met East at the recent State Hockey Championships — and he had a fantastic tournament!
The team finished in 7th place overall, an impressive result considering they were one of the youngest teams competing. Troy played as a striker and made a big impact on the field, scoring two clutch goals during the tournament. His performance earned him a Player of the Match award.
Troy brought great energy, enthusiasm, and determination to every game. Well done Troy. We’re proud of your efforts and can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
