PRINCIPAL - Donna O'Keeffe
Welcome back to Term 2. Our students returned with smiles, enthusiastic to be back at school. We have a number of events on this term with the P&C Family Movie Night, Mother’s Day Stall and Monty's Magical Wonderland Colour Run. We also traditionally have our Under 8s event for Prep and Year 1 and our athletics events. Many things to look forward to along with our learning opportunities. At the end of this term families will receive their children’s Semester One reports via email. We will send further details regarding reports later this term.
Congratulations to:
- Troy K for being selected for the State Hockey Boys 10 - 12yrs team.
- Luella C for being selected for the Metropolitan East 10 - 12yrs Girl Basketball Navy team. She will represent this team at the State Championships being held in Brisbane from 12 - 15 June.
School Improvement Agenda for 2025 will continue to focus on improving student outcomes:
- Pedagogical Practices in mathematics
- Whole-School Approach to Inclusion
Teaching and Learning
Our teachers will be participating in the next round of professional learning sessions, starting next week. They will be reviewing Term 1 academic data and using this for planning and teaching considerations. They will also be developing maths learning walls that assist students with understanding what they will be learning during the term and the achievement expectations as well as supporting materials on key concepts.
Staffing Changes
We are saying farewell to Mrs Bianca Haines, who is moving into a new inclusion teacher position at another school. We wish her all the best with the opportunity. Ms Nicole Kendrick will be taking over her position on 3A.
Student State School Consent
It is the school’s usual practice to take photographs or record images of students and occasionally to publish limited personal information and student materials for the purpose of celebrating student achievement and promoting the school and more broadly celebrating Queensland education. Consent to use your child's name, photograph, voice/video recording or year level is requested at enrolment via the "State School Consent Form". If you wish to make changes to consent for your child please request a new State School Consent Form from the school office.
ANZAC Day Ceremony
It was lovely to commemorate ANZAC Day with our community this morning. Thank you to our students, staff and community for your participation in our ANZAC Day ceremony. Thank you to Air Craft Woman Sharelle Phillips, Ms Joan Pease MP, member for Lytton; Carrie Harman representing Councillor Lisa Atwood, member for Doboy Ward, and Kelly Shoecraft P&C President for participating in our ceremony. I would also like to thank Mr Jones for organising the event.

Bayside DV Candlelight Vigil
Joan Pease MP is pleased to invite our community to attend the Bayside DV Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday 7 May 2025 from 5:30 – 6:15pm.
May is Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Awareness month, and the Bayside DV Candlelight Vigil is an important annual event in the local calendar to send a clear message: that DFV in our Bayside will never be tolerated.
This event provides an opportunity to hear from insightful guest speakers in the Wynnum Foreshore Park – just behind Pandanus Beach - before lighting candles and walking onto the sand at Pandanus Beach for a moment of reflection.
Registration for the Bayside DV Candlelight Vigil is free and can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer.
