Student Outcomes
I am very proud of our students and how engaged and committed they are to their work, achieving outstanding results. I am also very proud of the work of our teachers and support staff who ensure quality student learning. Below are student results from Semester 2 – 2024 academic reporting period. Our school is currently performing well above regional standards.
Highlights: Student at or above level (A to C grades) – Semester 2 - 2024
Year 6 Student Leaders
We had our student leadership presentation on Tuesday of Week 2, to present our student leaders with their badges. I was very proud of our Year 6 students as they took their pledge to be great role models for the younger students, make their best efforts at school and represent their school with pride.
On Tuesday night, Tingalpa State School P&C held it’s AGM and first general meeting of the year.
I would like to congratulate our 2025 executive team:
- Vice President: Luke Pendergast
- Secretary: Dan Jackson
- Treasure: Noemie Harvey
- Assistant Treasure: Camille Dusolle
I would like to extend thanks and appreciation to our out-going President, Luke Pendergast, who will still be supporting the P&C executive in the role of Vice President. I would also like to thank Sophie Fontana who has been doing a great job with social media on the Tingalpa State School P&C Facebook page.
The P&C plays a vital role in supporting the sense of community for the school community. Sharing roles across the P&C ensure that tasks don’t fall to just a few people and keep demands manageable. The position of P&C President was not filled on Tuesday night. The role description for the President position has been included. Anyone interested will be supported by a great executive team and the school. If you are interested or would like further information, please contact the P&C executive via email at enquiries@tingalpasspandc.com.au
Department of Education Media Post - P&C Street Libraries
Queensland school libraries positively influence the learning outcomes of students through encouraging a lifelong love of learning and reading. In 2018, the inaugural Queensland School Library Week (QSLW) was introduced to highlight the important work of school libraries. This week is School Library Week. Tingalpa State School was approached by the Department of Education to feature our newly installed P&C Street Libraries on their Facebook page. Please follow the link to see the post.
The street libraries are available for students to swap books for free, on a give-one, take-one basis. We have 3 street libraries around the school for students to access.
- P - Yr 2 - at the end of the hall near the bike racks
- Yr 3 - 4 - outside kitchen at E Block, near the Area 2 line-up area (coming soon)
- Yr 5 - 6 - outside the library
Each street library has two shelves, one for English books and one for French books.
Thank you to the P&C for this wonderful initiative and to Lisa L for being awesome in getting all of this over the line!
Thank you to Mrs Hoult, Ms Leonard and Ms Young for painting the street libraries during the holidays.
2025 Year 6 P&C Graduation Committee meeting
This week we held the first 2025 Year 6 P&C Graduation Committee meeting. Thank you to all those parents who put their hand up to help with the ceremony this year. We are currently looking at venue options.
13 February - National Apology
This day marks the anniversary of the formal apology by the Australian Parliament to Australian Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people, specifically the Stolen Generation.
On 13 February 2008, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, formally apologised (The Apology) to the Stolen Generations for the trauma and impacts of the governments past forced removal policies. Many of these removals occurred as the result of laws and policies aimed at assimilating the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population into the predominately white community. Children were forcibly removed from their families and culture and placed in missions and reserves. It is estimated that 1 in 10 children were forcibly removed from their families between approximately 1910-1970.
Stolen Generations survivors are some of Australia’s most vulnerable people and many have kept their stories and experiences secret for many years, even decades. Through hearing the resilient stories of Stolen Generations survivors there is now a willingness for Australians to join in on the healing journey. To be part of solutions into the future. This is the spirit of the anniversary.
The anniversary of the National Apology is a reminder of how our nation can come together in efforts to overcome injustices of the past and look to the future.

Junior Playground Development
Work is underway with the junior playground development. We had great feedback from our school community last year and have been able to incorporate many of the ideas into the design. Attached is the design and play structures we are looking to incorporate. We may not be able to have all play structures included during the initial build but we have included them in the plan so we can continue to add to the area, offering students a range of play opportunities. Construction of the junior play area will start close to the Easter school holidays. We will share more details as the time draws closer.
School Assembly
Our school assemblies give an opportunity to celebrate learning and share school community messages.
Next week we will recognise the Tech Team and Cre8 Crew students, taking on student leadership roles.
Venue: School Hall
Time: 2:30pm - Tuesday even weeks
Kind regards
Donna
