Welcome back! Bonne rentrée!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new and returning families, I hope you all had a relaxing holiday. It has been wonderful to see all the students’ smiles and see them settling into their new classrooms over the last few days.

For the new families that I have not had a chance to meet yet, I am Madame Van, Head of Department for the French Bilingual Program at Tingalpa State School and Whites Hill State College. Working across the two sites means that my time is shared at both locations. This term, I am planning to be at Tingalpa on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Whites Hill on Mondays and Fridays with Wednesday being flexible depending on the schools’ needs. Please feel free to say hi when you see me around the school grounds. 

Evaluations Nationales

In Week 3 of this term, our Year 1, 2 and 3 will undertakes the ‘évaluations nationales de Français’ (French National Assessments). The sessions will be spread out over 2 to 3 days and last between 8 and 30 minutes each depending on the year level. There are usually three French sessions including reading and comprehension, dictation for the older grades, sound and letter recognition for Year 1 and vocabulary. The 'évaluations nationales' are undertaken at the start of school every year in France and provide valuable information to the teachers with regards to students’ knowledge and understanding of French concepts. This information is used to plan and deliver targeted and differentiated learning opportunities for our students. The results will be shared with you at the end of Term 1.

French Film Festival

The French Film Festival will be held from March 6 to April 8. We are looking forward to receiving the school program and see if there are some sessions our students can attend this year.

Enrolments 2026 – expressions of interest

The waitlist for enrolments into the French Bilingual Program for Prep to Year 7 2026 will be available on Tuesday 4 February at 7:00am.
